- Spent at least a year living in another English-speaking country
- (Altered Feb, 2004) Spent at least a year living in an area where English is not the primary language and is not widely spoken. Speak as little English as possible while there, obviously! Germany, The Netherlands, and more obscure places like Tibet or Nepal are all areas I am thinking of at the moment.
- Spend at least a year staying in America.
- (Altered Feb, 2004) Spend some time living in least three different in Australia where I have never lived, including at least one outback setting.
- (Added 2002, altered 2003) Spend a significant amount of time, probably at least a year in Ireland. Spend several months of this time in one of the areas where the Irish language is the primary language spoken in public; probably one of the areas in the west.
Slightly Planned! In early 2002, despite severe disability, I planned to take this trip, or a few-months shortened version of it during 2003/2004. Unfortunately by late 2002 it was obvious that I was so severely disabled that this trip was a sheer impossibility at this time, it has been postponed indefinitely.
- Visit every major city in Australia and New Zealand, including:
- Melbourne
Done and done! Born and bred, not to mention that I live here :).
- Sydney
Done in 1995/6! Visited twice in 1995, spent 6 weeks there in the summer of 1995/6.
- Albury/Wodonga
Done! Spent several weeks there for various music camps.
- Brisbane
Done in 1994! Attended a Pathways II conference there. Didn't get to see much except the inside of the conference hotel though, so I'd like to go back and explore.
- Cairns
Done in 1992! In our family there's a tradition of taking each year 12 student to Queensland somewhere for the September holidays so they get a week off to relax and unwind before the end of year exams. Mum and I went to Cairns for mine.
- Darwin
Done Lots! Several extended visits to the Peake's: my Aunt, Uncle and Cousin.
- Alice Springs/Uluru
Done! Visited there with family in about 1990.
- Perth
- Adelaide
- Hobart
Done in 1994-5! I spent several months staying with a treasured net.friend there during my summer vacation.
- Melbourne
- Visit the Peake's (my maternal Aunt's family) in Darwin, NT at least every five years.
Partly Done! I have been there several times, the last one in the early 1990's. I'm planning to go spend at least 6 months up there doing art with my Aunt as soon as my health allows, which unfortunately looks like being a rather long time.
- Go to see the remains of the Berlin Wall.
- (Ammended May, 2003 to add walking/traveling part) Go to see the Great Wall of China, spending at least several days walking/travelling along it.
- (Added October, 2003) To visit Stonehenge.
- (Added October, 2003) To visit some of the other 'henges' in England other
than Stonehenge. I'd like to see some of the other stone circles that are
less full of tourists and that (hopefully) you can get up closer to.
- (Added October, 2003) Visit Venice or a less-known city based around canals (is there another?). Spend enough time there (weeks to months) to get acquainted with the culture around the canals and to experience what its really like to be there.
- (Added February, 2004) Travel on the Gahn overland train from Adelaide to Darwin. Since they finally finished it after 20 years.
- Travel in a spaceship.
