My name is Ricky Buchanan. I’m the woman behind ATMac, No Pity City, Four Walls No Limits, and this Not Done Living! website.
Let me take a moment to give you a bit of glimpse at my life, at who I am and what I do. I’m a 34 year old Australian, born and living in Melbourne. I’m not able to do “regular” work due to disability, but I can – and do – do plenty of other things both on and off the internet. I love mint choc-chip ice cream, Australian musk flavoured lifesavers, and foods from the India/Pakistan/Sri Lankan cultures. I could be said to be a bit obsessed with my cat!
Blogging
I’ve been blogging since January 1997 when I started a personal blog, Journeying/Journalling, which was one of the first 25 blogs on the internet. The blog has changed locations several times since then but it’s still my personal online journal.
I now also have other blogs on specific topics:
- ATMac covers disability and assistive technology for Apple products such as Mac computers, iPods, and iPhones.
- Four Walls No Limits is for information, links, and resources for people who are bedridden, housebound, or mostly housebound.
- No Pity City is part blog, part regular website, and has T-shirts and other gear I’ve designed; most with in-your-face slogans related to disability.
Read About Me
You’ll find more about me on ATMac where I’ve written about my disabilities and the technology I use to overcome some of the limitations the disabilities cause.

Hi Ricky,
I am an 86 yr old gal living in a fabulous retirement community (for 70 yrs+ seniors) in Vermont, USA. I am considered to be the in-house expert (?) on Mac computers. There has just been a new group formed here of residents with limited vision and our library has acquired a 27″ iMac for their use. So I am trying to get up-to-speed on Mac options for those with limited vision and have been looking particularly at the APHont. But I am having trouble getting it up. I have the aphont.exe file and the latest version of StuffitExpander but can’t make the last leap to get translated. All I get is the garbage .exec file. I am using Mac OS 10.6.2 Snow Leopard
What am I doing wrong?
